Mountain Skills 1 (Training week end)
Content: Map reading, contour interpretation, feature recognition,
self location, map symbols, mountain hazards, equipment, depiction
of relief, maps & scale.
Venue: Wicklow mountains.
Price: €150 per person non-residential
Dates: 28 February-01 March, 30-31 May, 25-26 July, 26-27 September
Mountain Skills 2 (Training week end)
Contents: Revision of part 1 plus; timing, pacing, compass work,
navigation techniques, movement on steep ground, night navigation,
grid references, incident & accident procedure.
Venue: Wicklow mountains.
Price: €165 per person non-residential
Dates: 18-19 April, 27-28 June, 29-30 August, 31 October-01 November
Mountain Skills Assessment (week end)
Contents Practical: Assessment of the skills taught in MS 1
and 2.
Theory: Written paper and completion of log book requirements,
hold a current and accepted first aid certificate.
Venue: Wicklow mountains.
Price: €175 per person non-residential
Dates: 07-08 February, 16-17 May, 15-16 August, 17-18 October

Mountain Leader 1 (Training week end)
Contents Macro & micro navigation, roped & un-roped
steep ground work, night navigation, party management, hazard
assessment, river crossings, leadership, mountain weather,
group care, incident and accident procedure, mountain rescue.
Venue: Wicklow mountains.
Price: €200 per person non-residential
Dates: 01-02 November 2008, 07-08 March 2009, 19-20 September,
24-25 October
Mountain Leader 2 (Training 3 days)
Contents: Macro & micro navigation, roped & un-roped steep ground work, night navigation, party management, hazard assessment, river crossings, expedition & camp craft, access & conservation,
background knowledge for mountain leaders, the appropriate
application of the above skills with groups.
Venue: TBA (one of; Mournes, Connemaragh, Kerry, Donegal)
Price: €300 per person non-residential
